Celebrating eclectic design and craftsmanship, Ekta’s work embraces the imperfections of the handmade. Luxurious silks, sumptuous pashminas and soft linens are embroidered and hand-printed in bold vivid colours, creating textiles that are imbued with character. Ekta’s love of lines, grids, text and maps shape her work. Experiences of living in India and Britain continue to provide inspiration for new surface explorations.
Ekta trained at India’s premier design school, the National Institute of Design. After winning Charles Wallace and Scottish Executive scholarships, she went on to do her Masters at the Scottish College of Textiles, UK. She has continued her award winning stint, receiving awards from the Crafts Council and the Arts Council, England.
